Her First Communion Dress - Best Practices

First Communion is a time of holy sacrament for your child. She has studied for years and is now ready. This can be a gorgeous time filled with persisting memories for your family.

We advise these Best Practices when planning for her First Communion:

Baby Girls Gloves & Mittens

Keep the focus on the purpose. It is far too easy to allow the focus to shift to the dress, the party, the gifts. Keep the true meaning prominent in everyone's thoughts. Shop early. This cannot be emphasized enough. The earlier you shop, the less stress everyone will caress and the more choices you will have. The later in the season you shop, the less styles and sizes will be available to you. Spring is also the busiest season for itsybitsy girls' dresses and extra orders can (and often do) take longer than expected. Far too many mothers go into panic mode because they waited too late. When is the right time to shop? Early January, for sure! Be aware of what every body else is wearing in her class. Are you in an area where the "little bride" look rules supreme? Or is everyone going to be wearing a tea-length dress? Is sleeveless suitable - and normal? Or is it good to wear sleeves? You will want to know before shopping. You don't want your daughter to stick out like a sore thumb on this most costly day. Ask the leaders in your Parish. part her and be honest about her size. Don't get hung up on the size number! Instead, select a dress that will fit her properly. Nobody needs to know what the size label says. And remember that every manufacturer's sizes runs different from the next. Size estimate means nothing; fit means everything. And if she hasn't begun to mature/slim down and still carries a itsybitsy rounded baby belly, Do look at half (or plus) sizes. They are proportioned a itsybitsy wider but not longer and are purposely made in these sizes for these situations. She will look her best when her dress fits properly - and she'll be more comfortable too. select a veil or headpiece that suits her face and hairstyle. This means that you first need to conclude how she will wear her hair. Will it be put up? Pulled back? Hairstyle directly affects the type of headpiece that will look challenging on her. Go easy on the accessories. A lovely necklace from Grandmother may be the excellent thing! But too many accessories like a shawl and gloves will cause her anxiety and she will fidget. It will be primary to have a warm coat, cape or sweater in cooler climates, of course, but leave these extras with the family so she is free to focus on the day. Keep the emphasis Away from what gifts she will receive from the family. In fact, receiving gifts that day can be a complete and delightful surprise to her of you are instead focusing on the meaning of the day. Relax and enjoy this day - and be sure to take a Lot of pictures!
